For anyone who is interested in learning a scripting language, there are some key things to remember before diving into the process head first. Learning any programming language, whether low level syntax or not, is going to involve a lot of troubleshooting and error solving before much work is done. This is part of the software building process and comes with learning any new language.

It’s recommended to look at the free information available online, as over the past few years a lot of new and well built tutorials have risen for various languages. Depending on what your goals are, you may simply need to know how to write basic calculations for a business website. Other uses could be building an in-browser game that thousands of people are going to be playing. Scripting languages and their uses are very versatile, so it helps to familiarize yourself with more than one if you plan on getting into the field.

The best way to learn tips and tricks for a new language, even better than learning from others, is to experiment with the syntax yourself. Build your own programs, spend hours tweaking the code. This is how the master programmers become how they are, it takes a lot of personal exploration within the code to come to grips with what the language actually is and how it operates.

It is very beneficial to learn a scripting language. Most web development projects are built using a scripting language as the backbone of the project. Scripting languages are used to manipulate information and create a dynamic content. Scripting languages are not compiled, they are simply interpreted. Scripting languages can run on either the server or in the user’s browser.

The ability to use a scripting language will enable the creation of enhance features on a website. Applications that can be used to collect information or create animation can be created. There is even the option of using scripting languages to create an interactive applet or even a game is very possible. Scripting languages can also be used outside of the web development environment. It can be used to create standalone soft wares or to manage databases.

Some of the more popular scripting languages are PHP, Java Script, Perl, Python, Jscript and ASP just to name a few. PHP is by far the most popular scripting language. Some scripting languages only run on specific platforms. ASP is one such language that only runs on the Microsoft IIS server. Scripting languages are normally used in order to enhance the user’s experience.

Script programming language is one of the most popular forms of programming. It’s popular because it’s lightweight. People can use this without learning robust full-fledged applications.

Script programming is great because it allows users to do a lot of web-based templates for web pages. Visual Basic, for example, is a great application for building executable files or CD-based applications. It takes VB Script, however, to bring these type of elements into web-based projects.

It’s a good to learn these scripting languages because there is where most people are spending their time. Few people utilize executable files anymore. Most companies like to use web-based programs for shopping carts, navigation menus and animation.

There is so much that can be done with script programming. It is much easier to learn these scripting languages. It is also easier to edit templates that are set up with scripts. When someone uses core code the application is locked. It’s impossible to edit an executable file. It’s much better for end-users because they can edit the scripts. This allows multiple users to change code on the fly.

Graphical User Interfaces are created much easier with scripting languages. It simplifies the entire process of building a website.

Usually scripting languages are interpreted rather than compiled. Interpreted languages are often easier to learn and great for beginning programmers. Currently the most common use of scripting languages involves the Internet.

JavaScript is the most commonly used scripting language because web browsers use JavaScript to display web pages. JavaScript is a separate language from Java. Python is a high level interpreted language. It is an easy to learn, readable and powerful language used in a variety of applications. Python is often used for non-scripted applications.

Perl is a high level interpreted programming language. Perl is flexible and powerful suitable for many programming tasks including strong text processing capabilities

Ruby is a fast easy to learn object-oriented interpreted language. Perl was the inspiration for Ruby. Ruby is often paired with Ruby on Rails a web application framework written in Ruby.

PHP is an excellent server side scripting language with strong data manipulating capabilities. PHP comes with powerful functions and algorithms to make programming easier. PHP is specially suited to web development and PHP code can be embedded in HTML. PHP is very widely used.

ASP is a server side scripting language used to create dynamic web pages. It contains many advanced features, excellent support and is easy to use.

If we look at the different scripting languages available and their intended uses, we find that there are a lot of similarities. Most of the variations in languages like JavaScript and Visual Basic are subtle and syntax related, but achieve practically the same end results when executed. A simpler way to put it is that most (if not all) scripting languages provide a different path to the same destination.

Java is known for it’s cryptic, almost oldschool “C” like code structure, as where other languages may have softer or harder syntax. Which one you actually end up using when you write will depend totally on personal preference, and you may even find that it is best to use projects that involve a mix of different languages working together. There are so many variables in this line of work that pegging down one comparison is practically impossible, but the more lines of code you successfully execute, the easier it will be to distinguish the subtle characteristics of these languages.

With any language like Perl or Java it is important to code as much as possible to get a feel for the language, as no programmer truly knows everything there is to know. You will find that it is an infinite task of twisting logic, syntax, and hair-pulling mind pretzels that can leave you both highly rewarded and highly frustrated.
